A story of how a young woman, Rosalia, looks back at her dangerous voyage from Sicily to New York has won the prestigious 2020 Language Learner Literature Award.

Ellis Island: Rosalia’s Story by Janet Hardy-Gould was one of three finalists from OUP to be shortlisted for the prize.

Janet said: “I’m honoured and I’d like to thank the Extensive Reading Foundation for organising the awards; the judges, and all the readers who took part in the voting process.

“I’d also like to say thank you to everybody at Oxford University Press Graded Readers – it’s always a pleasure to work with such outstanding editors.”
