Janet’s latest book ‘Women Who Made A Difference’, published by Oxford University Press, has been shortlisted for the 2025 Language Learner Literature Award organized by the Extensive Reading Foundation. The book has been shortlisted in the Adolescent and Adult section. Winners will be announced in September at the Extensive Reading Congress in Sapporo, Japan.

Janet’s Book ‘Merlin the Kingmaker’, published by Oxford University Press, has been shortlisted for the 2023 Language Learner Literature Award. The book has been shortlisted in the Adolescent and Adult section. The winners will be announced in August at the Extensive Reading Congress in Bali.
ELLIS ISLAND: ROSALIA'S STORY WINS AWARD
A story of how a young woman, Rosalia, looks back at her dangerous voyage from Sicily to New York has won the prestigious 2020 Language Learner Literature Award.
Ellis Island: Rosalia’s Story by Janet Hardy-Gould was one of three finalists from OUP to be shortlisted for the prize.
Janet said: “I’m honoured and I’d like to thank the Extensive Reading Foundation for organising the awards; the judges, and all the readers who took part in the voting process.
